Anthony: No border, no law, and no nation to protest in

By Tom Anthony | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice I see students did a "walk out" protest at 180 public schools in commencement of the new school year. I myself had perfect attendance in high school up until Senior Ditch Day, but I was paying tuition. The fact it happened at 180 public schools on the same day suggests a slightly better organizational format than when I studied geometry, which indicates either a supremely dedicated student leadership or adult involvement. The walkout was "protesting ICE," or Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the arm of government charged with enforcing immigration law inside the country, from those who slipped past Customs and Border Protection to those who overstayed a visa. During my high school years a number of protests of the Viet...

Boebert Says Border Enforcement Is Delivering Results for Colorado and America

By Rep. Lauren Boebert | Commentary, The Hill For four years under the Biden administration, Americans watched our southern border collapse. Record numbers of illegal crossings poured into the country. Cartels flourished. Fentanyl flooded our communities. Criminal illegal immigrants, including members of the violent Tren de Aragua gang, embedded themselves in my home state of Colorado and across the United States. The previous administration’s open-border policies were a choice. That chaos ended when President Trump returned to office and Republicans in Congress kept the promise we made to the American people. At the start of the 119th Congress, I voted for the Laken Riley Act, which requires the detention of illegal immigrants charged with theft, burgl...

Boulder Immigration Policies Face New Scrutiny From House Committee

By Mitchell Byars | Axios House Republicans escalated their months-long clash with Boulder County over local immigration policies on Wednesday, subpoenaing District Attorney Michael Dougherty for records. Why it matters: The subpoena pulls Boulder deeper into a national fight over local limits on participation with federal immigration enforcement. Driving the news: House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) subpoenaed Dougherty, alleging his office gives noncitizens preferential treatment to help them avoid immigration consequences and saying the DA failed to turn over documents after nearly four months of requests. Jordan argues the records could inform changes to federal immigration law, including the proposed Shut ...

Crank Asks DOJ to Investigate Outside Groups After Violence at Denver Anti-ICE Walkout

By Nico Brambila | Colorado Politics U.S. Rep. Jeff Crank is asking the Justice Department to investigate violence at last week’s anti-ICE student walkout in Denver, including whether outside organizations helped organize, fund, or influence the demonstration. Crank sent a letter Tuesday requesting the investigation to Harmeet K. Dhillon, assistant attorney general for civil rights at the U.S. Department of Justice. “Videos and on-the-ground reporting show that the Denver walkout turned violent, with assaults on journalists and counterprotesters, raising serious questions about whether participants were unlawfully prevented from exercising their own constitutional rights,” Crank wrote. “The growing mobilization of leftist and socialist groups like the Democratic...

Denver ICE walkout turns violent, and the journalists filming it say they were attacked

By Shaina Cole | Contributing Writer, Rocky Mountain Voice The flyer set the time at noon, Friday, September 4, at La Alma-Lincoln Park. No work. No school. No shopping. ICE out. There was a DJ. There were food trucks. Kids danced. Then the water bottles started flying, and by the time the crowd cleared, three people had gone to the hospital and at least one woman had been beaten until one eye was swollen nearly shut. Denver police counted five assaults or altercations in a little over an hour at the park at 1200 N. Osage St. Three people who came with cameras told RMV they were chased, hit, robbed, and in one case kicked on the ground while curled in a ball. Their footage, and photographs published by a mainstream Denver paper, show a good deal of what they say happened. W...

Left-Wing Anti-ICE Activists Mobilize Colorado Students for Statewide School Walkout Sept. 4th

By Katie Daviscourt | The Post Millennial The Youth Coalition, a Denver-based left-wing student activist organization, appears to be the lead organizer of the walkout. Students from more than 160 Colorado public schools will be participating in a "walkout" to protest US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The action, scheduled for September 4, is being promoted as a statewide "Walkout for ICE Out" day. The walkout has been promoted by left-wing activist organization 50501, which was a key group that was behind the "No Kings" protests around the nation.  Participating students will leave class at 12 pm, according to organizers. A central rally is planned at La Alma Park in Denver, where students from area schools will gather to demand an end to immigration enfo...

Colorado Mother Blames Immigration Policies After Daughter Left Severely Disabled

By Ian Schwartz | Real Clear Politics https://twitter.com/cspan/status/2094811461709082986?s=20 Patricia Fox, whose daughter Carissa was a victim of a hit-and-run accident committed by an illegal alien, slammed Democrats at a House Judiciary Committee’s Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement Subcommittee. According to FOX News, Carissa underwent emergency surgery to remove part of her skull and relieve brain swelling. She is now minimally conscious, nonverbal, wheelchair-bound, and fed through a G-tube. PATRICIA FOX: Wouldn't be the same. Because of an American citizen had hit my daughter. I wouldn't be here asking why was somebody who had no lawful right to be in this country here to hit her in the first place. Valeria Bermudez-Marcano wouldn'...

Trump Administration Moves to Restrict Tax Benefits for Illegal Immigrants

By Samuel Kimzey | The Federalist We are witnessing a well-coordinated, multi-pronged strategy targeting the incentives that draw illegal aliens to the United States. Last week, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced new regulations to clarify existing federal law and prevent illegal aliens from collecting government benefits. Bessent wrote on X: “Under @POTUS, the days of illegal aliens collecting taxpayer-funded benefits are over. The federal law is clear, and @USTreasury is enforcing it. American taxpayers should not be forced to foot the bill for benefits going to those who are barred by law from receiving them. These proposed regulations end the abuse, protect the integrity of the tax system, and put Americans first.”  These new policies are c...

Every country has a locked front door. Why not America?

By Brian C. Joondeph | Commentary, American Thinker The recent success of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) candidates in several high-profile primary elections has reignited a debate over how far left the Democratic Party is moving. These are not the Democrats of John F. Kennedy or even Bill Clinton. The DSA platform calls for Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, universal childcare, free public college, expanded government ownership of key industries, and a constitutional overhaul that would abolish the U.S. Senate, the Supreme Court, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and replace the presidency with congressional leadership. On immigration, many progressive activists seek not only to reform ICE but to abolish it altogether. Congressman Shri Thaned...
