Wrongful Death Notice Alleges Security Failures Before Charlie Kirk Assassination

By AP | Denver7 Charlie Kirk’s family blames Utah officials and UVU security lapses for his 2025 assassination in a wrongful death notice ahead of a possible lawsuit. Charlie Kirk’s family blamed Utah officials for failing to prevent the conservative activist’s assassination at a state university, in a wrongful death notice announced Wednesday that presages a possible lawsuit. Attorneys for the family said Kirk's death resulted from a string of “reckless decisions” by officials at Utah Valley University that left him exposed to a rooftop sniper, who fired a fatal shot from more than 400 feet away on Sept. 10, 2025. The university has faced harsh criticism for a lack of key safety measures on the day of the shooting. Kirk, 31, had been debating students in an outdo...

Vandals Target Charlie Kirk Statue Outside Turning Point USA Headquarters

By Zoe Hussain | New York Post A brand-new statue of slain conservative icon Charlie Kirk was vandalized in Arizona — just days after it was unveiled for the one-year anniversary of his death. The 8-foot statue of Kirk at Turning Point USA’s Phoenix headquarters, as well as a nearby poster memorial in front of the statue, was defaced with red paint overnight Sunday, AZ Family reported. Cops responded to calls about the defaced memorial just after 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, the Phoenix Police Department said in a statement to The Post. The statue was installed on Thursday to mark a year since the 31-year-old TPUSA co-founder was gunned down at an open-mic event at Utah Valley University. Photos from AZ Family showed the red paint smeared over the statu...

The Decisiveness Weapon: Charlie and the Truth Factory

By Drake Hunter | Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice As I sit quietly this morning, rather than a nursery rhyme, a children's tale keeps illuminating my imagination: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, with three injuries weighing upon my soul. Yesterday marked one year since Charlie Kirk was assassinated. Today marks twenty-five years since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. And here at home, my wife, Sherrie, has spent more than 300 days bedridden. While being treated for glioblastoma, she was dropped on her head during hospital care, suffering injuries that left her unable to walk. One injury is political and cultural. One is national and collective. One is deeply personal. Each has brought pain. Each has produced loss. And each places the same question before the...

Same question, different answers: Google’s AI on Kirk, King and Kennedy

By Mark Salley | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice On the one-year anniversary of Charlie Kirk's death, I asked my iPhone three questions: How old was Charlie Kirk when he was assassinated? How old was Charlie Kirk when he was murdered? How old was Charlie Kirk when he died? The first two of these questions stumped Google. Rather than respond with Kirk's age at his death, Google's response was: Charlie Kirk—date of death Sept. 10, 2025. Only on question number three did Google respond: Charlie Kirk—31 years old. On the day I asked, Google would not tell me Kirk's age when I framed his death as an assassination or a murder. Merriam-Webster knew Kirk had been assassinated. It defines "assassinate" as "to murder (especially a politically important person) by s...

A year after Charlie Kirk’s death, have we forgotten what came next?

By Tori Stork (Ganahl) | Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice One year ago today, Charlie Kirk was killed. It still feels strange to write those words. I’ve spent a lot of today thinking about Charlie—not just the person the world knew, but the 21-year-old who called me out of nowhere when I was a college student at the University of Oregon. The guy who flew to Eugene, spent months helping our little group of students (mostly in disguise so no one would recognize him), strategized with us in my Jeep, drilled us on messaging and quoted Scripture from memory. Charlie believed in people before most of the world knew their names. He believed in me before I really believed in myself. Years later, after Turning Point had become a national force and millions of people competed f...

All Seven Charges Move Forward In Charlie Kirk Assassination Case

By Amanda Prestigiacomo | Daily Wire Tyler Robinson's attorneys entered not guilty pleas on his behalf to all charges. A Utah Judge ruled Tuesday that Tyler Robinson will stand trial on all seven charges in the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk, leaving him eligible for the death penalty if convicted of aggravated murder. After hearing hours of closing arguments from the defense and prosecution, Fourth District Judge Tony Graf found that the state had established probable cause, meaning there was sufficient evidence for the case to proceed to trial. Robinson, 23, faces one count of aggravated murder, one count of felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, two counts of obstruction of justice, two counts of tampering with a wit...

School Board Pays $95K After Censoring Student Tribute to Charlie Kirk

By Michael Gryboski | The Christian Post Officials violated student's First, Fourth and 14th Amendment rights. A North Carolina school district has agreed to pay $95,000 in attorneys' fees and damages after censoring an on-campus student tribute to conservative Christian activist Charlie Kirk. Last year, a high school student and her parents sued the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education over a painted tribute to Kirk that was removed shortly after it was completed.   The nonprofit legal organization Alliance Defending Freedom, which represented the student, announced Monday that it had reached a settlement with school district officials over the lawsuit. Per the settlement, the board of education agreed to pay $95,000 in assorted fees...

What SuperBowl LX Can Teach Us About Colorado Politics

By Russ Minary | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.” – Michael Jordan (*not a football player) Last Sunday, millions of Americans watched one of the most lackluster competitions between two NFL teams in a long while. The stats indicate that the Seattle Seahawks outplayed the New England Patriots, consistently from start to finish. The score speaks clearlly: Seattle won and New England lost.  I think SuperBowl LX was chock full of lessons that apply to Colorado politics. One team (Seattle) had a clear game plan, a competent and experienced coach and quarterback, and great players who understood their jobs and executed well. The other team (New England) didn’t. Both teams made it to the SuperB...
