The SAVE Act is about citizenship not suppression

By Russ Minary | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice “It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.” – Mark Twain Today, many Americans across the political spectrum are uninformed and/or unfamiliar with the US Constitution and US legal code. Yet they want elections and election results to be fair and accurate. Confusion, division and conflict are common, often guided more by opinion or emotions, but not the truth or facts. Social or mainstream media will never be a substitute for primary research from reliable sources. In this article, you’ll get some facts and reliable info on WHY the SAVE Act, free and fair elections, and the Electoral College are absolutely necessary to protect our most basic freedoms as Ame...

Colorado air board approves $13.5 million in new fees as regulatory mandates grow

By Cory Gaines | Commentary, Colorado Accountability Project This is another older, but still relevant article. The first link below is to a Sum and Substance article from late May that details how the unelected Colorado Air Quality Control Commission (AQCC) doubled the amount businesses that have emission permits will have to pay for the pleasure of submitting reports to the body and being regulated by them. Quoting: “Emissions-producing Colorado companies from oil-and-gas drillers to manufacturing firms will see some of their reporting fees double over the next year, as state officials seek to make industrial leaders pay more for enforcement of the regulations that govern them. Members of the Colorado Air Quality Control Commission on Friday approved more than $13.5 mill...

Federal Judge Permanently Blocks Key Parts of Trump’s Election Order

By Alliyah Sims | KDVR DENVER (KDVR) — A federal judge has permanently blocked key parts of President Donald Trump’s executive order on elections, ruling after a legal fight that began last year over voter registration rules and proof-of-citizenship requirements. The decision strikes down provisions tied to how states verify voter eligibility and says those responsibilities belong to states and Congress, not the president. The ruling also turns a temporary block into a permanent one; however, an appeal is expected. Rob Preuhs, Professor and Chair of Political Science at Metropolitan State University of Denver, said the concern at the center of the case is how election systems could impact eligible voters. “That means that we’re all potentially at the risk o...

Trump Calls on Republicans to Stand Together in SAVE America Act Battle

By Cameron Arcand | Townhall President Donald Trump wants to get the House back in motion, as some Republicans wanted to pause action in the lower chamber in protest of the SAVE America Act not getting passed in the Senate. While the act is considered an extremely high legislative priority of the president, he expressed the need for a cohesive Republican Party following a meeting with Speaker Mike Johnson on Thursday afternoon. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) and other lawmakers had intended not to vote on any rules to keep the House from voting on any legislation.  “House Republicans should unify, and stop voting down ‘Rules’ or, threatening to do so,” he posted to Truth Social.  “Giving power to the Radical Left Dumocrats in the House to contro...

Denver7 spoke with all of them, who gave their final pitches to primary voters. DENVER — The race to become Colorado's next Attorney General is filled with six candidates who all want to become the "people's lawyer." Denver7 sat down with each of them to hear their final pitches to voters, with the primary election in Colorado on June 30. The current AG, Phil Weiser, is running in the gubernatorial Democratic primary. Four Democrats hope they will take his spot, and two Republicans believe it is time for the state to change the direction of that office. Unaffiliated voters can choose what primary they vote in, but cannot cast ballots...

Boulder Climate Lawsuit Emerges as Flashpoint in Colorado Democrat Primaries

By Kyle Kohli | Complete Colorado In the Colorado primary elections this year, oil and gas perspectives are showing up in a unique way: Boulder’s now 8-year old climate lawsuit against ExxonMobil and Suncor Energy. The U.S. Supreme Court is set to hear oral arguments in the Boulder case during its fall term, placing the issue on a national stage right in the middle of election season. Given Boulder’s targeting of energy companies and potential to increase prices, it threatens to undermine national Democrats’ focus on affordability. In Colorado, the case raises important questions for candidates seeking office: where do they stand on energy production, climate litigation, and the use of courts to drive policy outcomes? Boulder pops up in ...

New Internal Poll Shows Weiser Surging Past Bennet in Democratic Governor Primary

By Ernest Luning | Colorado Politics Attorney General Phil Weiser holds a lead over U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet among likely voters less than a week before ballots are due in Colorado’s Democratic gubernatorial primary, according to a new poll released Thursday by a group backing Weiser. The survey, conducted Wednesday and Thursday by Democratic firm Public Policy Polling, found Weiser with 45% support to Bennet’s 36%, with 19% undecided. Fighting for Colorado, a state super PAC formed to support Weiser, commissioned the poll, which has a margin of error of 4 percentage points. PPP interviewed 600 likely voters — including Democrats and unaffiliated voters who said they’ll cast ballots in the Democratic primary — using a mix of automated calls to landline phones and text ...

Coloradans Encouraged To Weigh In On Proposed Xcel Gas Hike

By: Scott Weiser | The Denver Gazette The Colorado Public Utilities Commission is inviting public input on a range of matters, including a remote hearing on Xcel Energy’s natural gas rate increase proposal, as part of its monthly engagement efforts. The commission on Tuesday announced opportunities for July that include a 9-1-1 Services Enterprise Board meeting, its regular monthly public comment session and the second remote public comment hearing for Xcel Energy’s gas rate case, Proceeding No. 25AL-0538G. Xcel Energy filed its proposal on Dec. 29, 2025. If approved as filed, it would increase average residential gas bills about 11.4%, or $7.59 per month, and small business gas bills about 13%, or $36.47 per month, starting in October, according to the company an...

Initiative 195 would raise taxes on Colorado’s top earners. A new report asks whether they’d stay.

By Jen Schumann | Rocky Mountain Voice The income tax on a Colorado household earning under $25,000 would fall by $9 a year under Initiative 195. A filer reporting between $2 million and $5 million would pay about $13,914 more. Both figures come from the measure's certified ballot title. The Common Sense Institute, a free-market policy group in Greenwood Village, says that second household is also the one most likely to pack up and leave Colorado, and that the state would lose part of the revenue the tax is supposed to bring in right along with it. Initiative 195 would end Colorado's flat income tax. The state taxed income on a graduated scale for its first 50 years, then switched in 1987 to a single rate, now 4.4 percent, that applies to every earner.  In its place, 1...
